Summary: Germany is a bit stressed out, so takes a quick break from his work. Amazing what a bit of art appreciation can do…
Author’s note: Thanks, Kat, for looking this over for me.

Germany took off his glasses and closed his laptop. He felt the mother of all headaches blooming right behind his eyes. He closed them, and rubbing his eyes tiredly, he regrettably made the decision to put an end to his work for the day. Opening his eyes, he noticed a small still-life Italy had done of a simple vase filled with flowers. Next to it, on the wall, was a painting of a bunny that Germany loved for some reason he could never put a finger on. He also had a few matted sketches hanging on the wall. There were two small nudes of himself, quick sketches that Italy had done from memory; the painting that had sparked them, was hanging in his little buddy’s bedroom. Then there was his favorite sketch, it was slightly bigger than the other two and featured a drunken Prussia, sprawled in a chair in all his naked glory, a glass of wine in his hand like Bacchus. Germany appeared twice in the sketch, just as naked as his brother, as a pair of satyrs flanking Bacchus’s throne. That sketch was the result of a lot of good Italian wine flowing, an evening spent watching “Clash of the Titans,” and his brother getting so drunk, he decided to do an impromptu striptease when he heard about the painting amid cries of “Paint me!”

Germany chuckled softly as he remembered that night. It was the one and only time he and Italy had ever had someone join them in bed. Despite his drunkenness, Prussia was a good lover and he certainly knew what he was talking about when it came to the mechanics of a ménage à trios. A lusty good time was had by all along with the promise to do it again when the mood hit and the time was right.

Germany reached over and picked up a small framed photo on his desk. It was a picture of himself in lederhosen dancing with Italy who was dressed like a girl, complete with waist-length braids that Japan had taken at last year’s Oktoberfest. He fondly remembered the stolen kisses on the walk home under the stars and lying together in bed, singing German folk songs until they drifted off to sleep. The pancake breakfast Prussia had made them the next morning was, to borrow his brother’s favorite word, “awesome.” As he sat there, reminiscing about all the fun he had had with Italy since they had met, Germany found himself reaching for the phone. He picked it up and dialed.

Germany smiled when he heard his little buddy’s voice. “Italy?” He paused while his friend answered. “Would you like to come over for dinner?” Germany listened to his reply, his smile broadening. “What time? How about seven? Good, I’ll see you then.” Germany hung up and as he sat there, he realized that headache that was threatening to split his skull in two had magically disappeared. Opening his laptop, he went back to work.
