Summary: Akito is bored…
Warnings: none
Words: 299

Akito lounged on the broad tatami mats covering the floor of the large room she used for audiences. It overlooked her private garden and was her favorite place in the family compound. Bored, she rolled onto her side, before rising to her feet. She stood, wondering what she should do next, her ennui making her feel lazy. She briefly toyed with the idea of sprawling on the floor again, but a sudden movement in the garden drew her attention.

Akito glided across the floor, her feet making the barest whisper of a sound on the tatami, just like the soft rustling of her silk kimono. She stood on the threshold, looking out at the garden, and noting by the shadows that barely fell on the ground that it was close to noon. That meant Hatori would be here if she did not eat, and she wondered if skipping lunch was worth having a bit of company. She knew she could always summon him and often did when boredom got the best of her, but this time she decided against it. She wanted to be alone with no demands, however small and subtle, placed on her.

Akito sighed. The movement she had spied moments before was just a butterfly dancing lazily above the lilies in her garden. A frown darkening her visage, she wished the stupid thing would get caught by the fat spider that had stretched her web between two rhododendrons. Several dark thoughts, mostly involving Yuki and that stupid Tohru flitted through her head, but she could not muster enough energy to pursue them beyond the confines of her imagination. Dismissing them from her head as easily as she would have if they were there in person, and giving into her boredom, Akito lay down again and dozed…

Title: The Afternoon Off

Summary: Hatori finds he has the afternoon off, so he calls Ayame…
Warnings: none
Words: 274
Author’s Notes: Also written for Furabafest… Thanks go out to Jen for suggesting Hatori.

Hatori picked up a pen and wrote some notes in the charts on his desk. The corners of his mouth rose briefly in a smile when he realized Yuki had managed to visit Akito without needing his inhaler afterwards. What pleased him even more was the fact that Akito had behaved herself this time and did not require him to hurry over to treat the tension headache she swore was a migraine. The way things looked he was going to have his afternoon free. He was about to pick up the phone and call Ayame to see if his cousin was free for lunch, when the phone rang. Sighing softly, Hatori answered it.

“Hello?” He mentally shook his head as it was Ayame, asking if his brother was still there. “He left about a half hour ago, Aya…” a long paused while he listened to his cousin ramble on, “No, but I was wondering if you were free for lunch…” Hatori waited for his cousin to finish his rambling reply, knowing all he needed was a simple “yes” or “no,” but this was Aya, who could talk the hind leg off a donkey when he got going. He smiled as images from A Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy danced in his head.

“Aya, if you let me hang up, I’ll be there in about twenty minutes… Aya,” he cut in when his cousin started in again, “I want to call ‘Gure and see if he’ll come too. The three of us haven’t been together since we went to the lake… okay, bye…” he hung up. Rising to his feet, Hatori got ready to go…

Title: What to Get?

Warnings: none
Words: 100

Ritsu felt his anxiety levels rising again, as he stood in the bookstore, trying to decide which book on fruit to get Shigure as a “thank you” present for inviting him over. They all looked good, just like the fruit he agonized over a few minutes ago at the fruit stand, before fleeing to the relative “safety” of the bookstore. He smiled weakly at the store’s owner, and after apologizing profusely over and over again, he finally accepted his help. Taking a deep breath, Ritsu paid for his purchases and left the shop, hoping his cousin would like the books…
