Summary: The German brothers are reunited after the fall of the Berlin Wall…

For Kat with love…

After days of protesting, the government finally agreed to open the gates in the Berlin Wall. Prussia had been caught up in the sea of humanity that surged through from the East German side into the West. It was by dumb luck he had found his brother and their reunion was a happy one. Later that night, they stood atop the Berlin Wall, helping their reunited people tear chunks of it down. When the crowds began to disperse, the brothers left along with them, heading back to Germany’s house.

“It feels great to be home again, West!”

“It’s good to have you back, Prussia.” Germany unlocked the front door and they both stepped inside.

“Don’t you dare get weepy on me, West!” Prussia greeted the dogs when they entered the house.

“I missed you,” Germany said softly as he hung up their coats.

“I missed you too.”

“You look thinner…”

“And you look more muscle bound than ever!” Prussia laughed. “Stop fretting, West. All I need is a few of Itachen’s fabulous Sunday dinners and I’ll be fine.” He smirked.

Germany shook his head. “How was it living in Russia’s house?”

Prussia grew serious and his brother felt a sharp pang of guilt for bringing it up. “Well, it wasn’t a wonderful life, if that’s what you’re asking. It was hard and sometimes lonely, but Hungary and I got together whenever we could. I told you about it in the censored letters.”

“Yeah… They were hard to read at first.”

“Tell me about it.”

Germany nodded. “At least we remembered the code.”

Prussia laughed. “Yup! Those stupid things sure said a lot, didn’t they?” He smirked. The simple code form Frederick the Great’s time was apparently hard to break. Prussia was delighted his brother had remembered it and thanks to it, he never went crazy with worry about things on Germany’s side of the Berlin Wall. “That was also smart of you to toss in things that needed to be censored. It kept them from suspecting anything,” Prussia said, beaming with pride.

Germany blushed. “I had a good teacher.” He grinned.

“You sure did!” Prussia grinned back.

They stared at each for several minutes, afraid this was all just a dream. When the silence that stretched between them became too great, Prussia broke it. “Ummm… As much as I’d like to continue our family reunion, it’s nearly daybreak, West.”

“Oh, right.”

“You got a blanket and a pillow? I don’t mind sleeping on the couch. Knowing you, it’s probably better than my twenty year old mattress and the den’s certainly warmer than my drafty apartment,” Prussia smirked.

“You don’t have to sleep there.”

“You got a guest room I don’t know about, West?”

“No, I have a bed big enough for two. I needed it with Italy.” Germany blushed.

Prussia smirked. “What are you, afraid I’m gonna leave in the middle of the night, err… day?”

“Fine! But just this once,” Prussia said.

They headed off to bed.
