Halloween Bingo 2

Title: Fun at the Fair (part 1)
Prompt: Candy Apples
Fandom: Original
Characters: Bernd, Amber
Word count: 269
Rating: PG
Summary: Bernd and Amber enjoy some candy apples, while hanging out at the county fair…
Author’s note: Thanks to my beta Kat for pinking this for me. Please note that Amber belongs to her.

The two teens walked hand in hand through the county fairgrounds, riding the rides, playing games of chance, and checking out the various booths. Bernd and Amber turned a corner and walked down the aisle with all the food vendors. “You hungry?” Bernd said.

“Not really, but if you are, why don’t you get something?” Amber smiled at him.

“Maybe I’ll get a snack and we can eat later.”

“Sounds like a plan,” she said.

They walked down the row of food vendors, while Bernd looked for a snack. There were home canned goods, pies, a woman selling cookies, but he would have had to buy at least a dozen of them and Bernd only wanted a few. So they continued their search for something good to eat. There at the end of the row was a farmer selling apples. While Bernd could not get just two apples, he could get two candy apples.

“Would you like a candy apple?” Bernd asked Amber.

Bernd bought two of them. They walked around, enjoying their tasty treat. He played a few more games of chance, winning a large stuffed unicorn for Amber by knocking down some milk bottles with a baseball. Bernd also won a plush banana and a Minion.

Just as they finished eating their candy apples, Bernd spotted a sign pointing out the direction of the hayrides. “Let’s go on a hayride!”

“But we have all this stuff with us,” Amber said, referring to their plushie plunder.

“That’s okay; we’ll take it with us!”

“If you say so.”

Hand in hand, they followed the signs to the hayrides.

This is a really nice vignette that captures the moment really well. I'm jealous, our fair this year was really lame.

Thanks! Yeah? You know, I've never been to a county fair before. I've only seen them on TV. XD

A good one is a lot of fun. You can usually hear live music or watch things like trained animal shows. One year they had a percussion group that was really awesome and last year they had a comedy bluegrass trio that was so good I bought their CD.

There's also usually overpriced but deliciously bad for you fair food and you can go coo at the 4H kids' animals they raised and there's always the rides.

The games are fun but usually rigged.

I don't know what happened this year. There were no musical acts and the couple of performers who were there just weren't very good at presenting their acts.

I got a plate of twisty fries with bacon bits and ranch that was really not great. How do you manage to fail at that?

And the one ride I went on the operator did a really bad job of running it.

There was a traveling exhibit of Elvis memorabilia that had at least one obviously fake item and it was still probably the best bit.

I imagine they would be. Nice!!

Everywhere has over priced food that's generally bad for you. XD

Yeah? XD

That's so sad. Maybe they just didn't have the budget for it this year.

Yeah, really? o.0

That's sad! XD

Hopefully next year will be better! :D
