Summary: College freshmen, Ludwig & Feliciano, want to go to a toga party…
Author’s Note: Thanks to my beta Kat for looking this over for me. The song “Louie, Louie” was written by Richard Berry. The most well know version of the song was done by the Kingsmen.

“Here’s the sheets you wanted, West,” Gilbert said as he handed the shopping bag to his younger brother, Ludwig. “They were on sale too.”

“Oh good. Thanks, Gil,” Ludwig said as he took the proffered bag. He was going to a toga party with his best friend Feliciano at their friend Alfred’s frat house and they needed something to wear. Ludwig thought it would be better to buy a couple of cheap sheets, rather than ruining the nice ones on their beds. Since Gilbert was going to the store anyway, he asked him to pick them up for him, while he went and got the beer.

Before Ludwig had a chance to look at them and figure out what he owed his brother, the doorbell rang. Setting the bag aside, Ludwig got up to answer it. Opening the front door, he said, “Hey, Feli.”

“Hey, Louie!” Feliciano entered the apartment. “Did Gilbert get the sheets?”

“Yeah, I was going to look at them.”

They walked into the living room.

“Cool! Can I see them?”

“They’re just sheets, Feli,” Ludwig said as they made their way over to the sofa and sat.

“I know, but I’m so excited about going! Romano went to one at Tony’s house last Saturday and he said it was a lot of fun, except for, and I quote, ‘the fucking drunken assholes’.” Feliciano giggled. “I think he meant your brother, Tony, and Francis.”

Ludwig sighed. “Yeah…” He was not happy he had to go get his brother, who was completely wasted, and drive him home as he had a paper due the next day. To add insult to injury, Ludwig had had to stop the car several times so that Gilbert could get out and throw up. It was the big reason why he never told him what he wanted the sheets for. Picking up the bag, Ludwig was about to look inside when Feliciano grabbed it from him.

Feliciano reached in and pulled out a white sheet set with pink flowers all over it. He giggled and pulled out the other one. It was identical to the first.

Ludwig’s cheeks turned a bright pink. “GILBERT!!” he roared.

“What?” Gilbert sauntered into the living room. “I have a physics test on Monday and I really need to study for it.”

Ludwig sputtered wordlessly as he held up the sheets. He finally settled for simply glaring at his idiot brother.

“Don’t you like them? So what if they’ve got little flowers on them? It’s not like you bring any girls home.”

Feliciano burst out laughing as he was the only one who stayed overnight in Ludwig’s room. Heedless of the death glare his friend now leveled at him, he said, “We’re going to a toga party, Gil.”

Gilbert laughed. “Sorry, guys.”

“Yeah.” Feliciano giggled.

“If it’s any consolation, Feli, I think you’ll look cute in a floral toga.”

Ludwig sat there, the beginnings of a massive headache blooming behind his eyes. He rubbed tiredly at his temples. Of course Feli would look cute in a flowery toga; Ludwig thought he looked cute in anything he wore. As for himself, Ludwig felt he would look stupid. He also had a feeling he would turn out to be the butt of Alfred’s jokes, something he would much rather avoid. Ignoring his friend and brother, Ludwig tried to think of a way to salvage the moment as he felt it was too late to try and get different sheets.

“Just wear the damned sheets, West. No one’s gonna notice and if they do, they won’t care. Tony wore a floral sheet at his party and no one gave a rat’s ass too.” Gilbert laughed. “They were all too busy trying to get Franny to put his clothes back on! That guy’s got the hairiest ass I’ve ever seen!” he chortled. “Anyway, I’ve gotta get back to my studying.” Gilbert turned and headed back to his room.

“See?” Feliciano said. “It’ll be okay. And besides, no one’s going to mess with you, Louie. You’ve got muscles and more muscles.” He smiled. “And who cares if Al makes a bunch of stupid jokes? Just laugh along with them and everyone will think you’re cool for not kicking his butt.”

“Yeah?” Ludwig felt his cheeks heating up over his friend’s compliment.

Feliciano nodded. “We don’t have to go to the party. We do have that test in bio coming up and maybe we should stay home and study instead. You’re always telling me I need to study more, right?”

“Maybe…” Ludwig frowned. The cute guy sitting next to him looked like Feliciano, and even sounded like him, but the Feliciano he knew never wanted to study if there was something else more fun going on.

“And maybe when we’re done, we could have our own toga party here. Just us, okay?”

Ludwig nodded as visions of Feliciano dressed in nothing but the floral sheet danced in his head. He shook his head top clear it. “Okay, who are you and what have you done with Feli?”

Feliciano giggled. “It’s me, silly! I just wanted to make you feel better about not going.” He leaned against Ludwig. “You get the beer?”

“Yeah. You want one?”

Feliciano nodded. He reached for one of the sheet sets and opened the package, pulling the contents out. When Ludwig went to get them a beer, Feliciano took the top sheet and shook it out. He stood up and wrapped it around himself. “How do I look?” He said when his friend came back.

“Cute…” Ludwig said softly as his cheeks heated up. He handed his friend a beer.

“Yay! Now, go put yours on,” Feliciano said as took the proffered bottle and drank. Giggling, he walked over to the record player and looked at the 45s in the case next to it. Picking one at random, he put it on the record player and seconds later, Manfred Mann was singing “Do Wah Diddy Diddy.” Feliciano sang along with him and Ludwig could not help laughing.

Setting his beer down, Ludwig opened the other sheet set. Against his better judgment, he wrapped the floral top sheet around himself. “Toga! Toga!” he said.

“That’s the spirit! Come on, Louie! Let’s dance!” Feliciano went to change the record. He put on the Kingsmen’s cover of “Louie, Louie” and sang along. “Louie, Louie… Oh no! Me gotta go! Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said… Louie Louie, oh baby… Me gotta go!”

Ludwig moved his body very stiffly. Even though he was with his best friend, he was still very self-conscious about cutting loose and going with the flow like Feliciano. Ludwig sang softly, “Louie, Louie… Oh no! Me gotta go!”

Feliciano wiggled his hips in time with the beat as he danced over to his friend. Just seeing Ludwig “dancing” and ‘singing” along was way better than some stupid party in his humble opinion. They always had the most fun whenever they were alone or with Ludwig’s older brother and this night was no exception.

When the record finished, they put on another one. In that fashion, they danced the night away, only stopping to change the 45 or grab another beer. After a while they had a pleasant buzz going, where nothing seemed too silly or crazy. So when Feliciano put on “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” and tried to slow dance with Ludwig, he was pleasantly surprised when his friend wrapped his arms around him and held him close.

Swaying slightly from side to side, Ludwig held his friend. He rested his cheek against Feliciano’s; his hands slung low on his friend’s waist. Feliciano had his hands on the back of Ludwig’s neck. Pulling away slightly, he gazed up into Ludwig’s eyes. They paused in their dancing; the record had finished anyway, not that either of them had noticed. Throwing caution to the wind, Ludwig took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Tilting his head as he leaned in, he brushed his lips against his friend’s. Feliciano, momentarily taken by surprise, quickly recovered enough to hold Ludwig’s head before he escaped, and kissed him back. Feeling braver, Ludwig deepened the kiss and they stood there, lip-locked, until they both came up for air.

Feliciano licked his lips and smiled. His friend liked him as much as he liked him and he could have danced for joy. His heart fluttering like the butterflies in his stomach, he tried to kiss him again, but Ludwig pulled back. Feliciano frowned, mirroring the look on Ludwig’s face.

“We shouldn’t… You know.” Ludwig blushed. “My brother’s here and he wouldn’t… you know, understand.”

“Oh…” Feliciano felt relieved. “I thought you didn’t like me or something.”

“I do… I just…” Ludwig sighed. “Let’s wait until later, like when he’s a sleep, okay?”

“Okay. Let’s watch some TV.” Feliciano moved to sit on the sofa, while Ludwig turned on the TV. He turned the dial, changing the channels, until he found something his friend liked. He sat down next to Feliciano on the sofa. They watched a police show, while drinking their beers and waiting for later. But later never came as the two of them cuddled together and passed out form all the beer they had drank.

Gilbert found them a couple hours later, when he finished studying. He laughed to himself as he turned off the TV, since there was nothing on except the station’s test pattern. Grabbing an old afghan off the chair, he covered them with it. “’Night, kid-os.” Turning off the light, he left them to sleep it off.
