Amber and Didi put the finishing touches on their snow fort, while Bernd and James made a pile of snowballs for their snowball fight. They had a day off from school thanks to it snowing last night, finally ending this morning. The twins made it over in time for lunch and afterwards everyone went outside to play in the snow.
Bernd stood up and lobbed the first snowball. He hit his brother in the head, knocking his hat off. He laughed at the expression on Didi’s face.
“Hey!” Didi quickly threw one back at his brother, hitting him in the chest. It was followed by a couple thrown by Amber, one hitting Bernd in the head. That prompted James to get into the fray. It was not long, before there was an all out fight with both sides refusing to give in.
Tired and cold, Bernd lobbed one last snowball in Amber’s direction. It landed with a soft thud on the fort wall in front of her and she laughed. James, noticing her distraction, managed to hit her, but Didi easily got him back with a few well placed throws of his own.
“Hey!” Bernd stood up, only to be pelted with snowballs by Amber and his brother. He wiped the snow off himself and continued. “Anyone want to go in and make some cocoa?”
Amber and Didi exchanged glances. She nodded at Bernd.
James stood up. “Sounds like a plan to me.”
“Yeah.” Didi got up as well.”Maybe we could play video games or something.”
James nodded. “Sounds good to me.”
“Okay!” Bernd said as everyone began heading towards the mudroom. Inside, everyone got out of their wet clothes and put on something dry. While Bernd went downstairs to start a load of laundry, Amber made cocoa for everyone, and Didi and James went to the den to play video games. When the cocoa was ready, Amber brought it to the den and Bernd brought some cookies on a plate. As far as snow days went, everyone agreed this was one of the best.
