The Yule Goat shook the snow from his head and pawed the ground. He was waiting for Father Christmas to leave the presents behind. He had been impatiently waiting, eager to continue their special deliveries. They only had one night to spread holiday cheer throughout Scandinavia and there were a lot of small villages and towns to visit. He bleated when Father Christmas approached, shaking his horns at him.
Father Christmas chuckled as the wind whipped up, blowing the falling snow into a curtain of swirling white. He patted the Yule Goat’s side, before hopping on his back. They took off into the night, stopping at various villages along way to deliver their gifts.
Just as the first rays of dawn appeared along the fringed edge of the night, the Yule Goat and his companion reached their home. Father Christmas slid off his back and turned the Yule Goat loose in the pen with the other goats. By the time he reached his house, Father Christmas was just another old man living in the mountains and the Yule Goat was just a goat. They would live as the other folk and goats in Scandinavia did until winter came again and the magic of the season saw them, once again, delivering gifts to everyone.
