Author’s notes: Special thanks to Kat for pinking this for me and also helping me “make” fudge.
Tino sat at his laptop, looking for easy fudge recipes. After finding one he liked, he wrote down the ingredients and headed out to the store to pick them up. He was back in a half hour as it took longer to find the perfect semi-sweet chocolate baking bars than he thought. So he decided to “improvise” and grabbed a bag of chocolate chips from the baking aisle. After shooing his beloved Didi out of the kitchen, he got out a saucepan and set it on the stove. He also measured out the vanilla and set it aside.
He opened the bag of chocolate chips and poured it into the top part of a double boiler. Tino then opened the can of sweetened condensed milk which he drizzled over the chips. Before he turned on the stove, Tino took a large sheet of parchment paper and buttered it, before placing it in his nine-inch square baking pan.
Turning on the stove, Tino grabbed a whisk and started stirring the chocolate into the condensed milk. He stirred for a while, until the chocolate was melted and the mixture was smooth, thick, and shiny. Switching off the stove, Tino added the vanilla and poured the mixture into baking pan. He grinned. In about an hour, he and Didi would have some fudge. Or not… he thought as his beloved entered the kitchen. Ignoring him for the moment, Tino fussed in the fridge to make room for the fudge.
Didi eyed the chocolate mixture. He quickly glanced over to see if his husband was looking, before he stuck his finger into what he thought was cake mix. “OW!” he cried, sticking his finger in his mouth.
Tino looked over his shoulder at his beloved. He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so he coughed instead. “Are you okay?”
Didi nodded. “Why didn’t your cake…” he waved his hand at it. “Bake properly?”
“It’s supposed to be fudge, silly! Now let me see your finger.” Tino took his beloved’s hand. “Awe…” He kissed Didi’s finger. “Next time, ask me first if you can taste it, okay?”
Didi blushed. “Okay.” They kissed. “So when will it be ready?”
“In about an hour. I need to stick in the fridge to cool down and set up properly.”
“I can’t wait.”
“I know,” Tino giggled.
As soon as the fudge was ready, the two of them went back into the kitchen. Tino cut it into squares. He handed the first piece to his husband. “Well?” he asked as he watched Didi try it.
“Delicious!” Didi helped himself to another piece.
“Yay!” Tino said, as he grabbed a piece for himself.
